Hi, I’m Alexandra Ohman and I am 15 years old. I have been going to Carrollwood Day School for 7 years and I have lived in Tampa, Florida my whole life. I am a part of many clubs such as Senior Beta, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), CDS Ambassadors, Student Council, and LLS. I also participate in sports such as Varsity Cheerleading, Flag Football, and Track and Field. I feel that period poverty is an issue that has been in the dark for too long. With this organization, I intend to help women across the country and bring awareness to this issue.
Hi, my name is Josie Persons, I’m fourteen years old and was born in Tampa, Florida. I’ve been attending Carrollwood Day School for 5 years and will continue to do so until I graduate. I am a cheerleader, flag football player, a member of RoundSquare, DOE, and a CDS Upper School Ambassador. EmpowerHER is important to me because period poverty is a silenced issue. Because of this, women all over the world are suffering due to the lack of access to menstrual products and education. EmpowerHER means breaking the silence and ensuring every woman has the resources and dignity she deserves.
Hi, I’m Maya Pansara, and I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm 14 years old and I have been going to Carrollwood Day School for 11 years. I am a member of HOSA, RoundSquare, SDLC, and CDS upper school ambassadors. I am passionate about this because period poverty is not a well known world issue and as a woman I would like to help shed light onto this problem. I believe that everyone should have an understanding of the struggles that women enduring period poverty have to face.
